Scientists have developed enzymes produced by fungi to produce textile dyes, which are claimed to be a new and environmentally friendly way.

The production plan is funded by the European Union and is sponsored by the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.

SOPHIED

As part of the project, researchers have extracted enzymes from fungi to produce dyes for textiles and leather.

The final dyestuff product is a combination of enzymes and stabilizes enzymes and decomposes protein nanoscale silica particles.

The new dye is directly attached to polyamide, wool or silk fibers without adding additional chemicals that may pollute water quality and cause allergies.

One of the main advantages of traditional dyes is washability, abrasion resistance, and bleaching clothes are not easy to fade due to sunlight.

According to the initial test results of the new green dye, the color will start to fade only under the sunlight. The researchers suggest that the dye should be used initially in the limited exposure to sunlight.
