Recently, some international organizations and multinational enterprises, under the banner of "human rights", issued a statement banning Xinjiang cotton and related products based on lies and false information concocted by Anti China forces, which seriously damaged the well-being of Xinjiang people and the reputation of China's textile and garment industry, seriously disturbed the normal international trade order and caused adverse effects. In this regard, the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce solemnly states as follows:

China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce fully agrees with the relevant positions of the Ministry of foreign affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of China, and opposes any defamation and discrimination against Xinjiang cotton. The so-called "forced labor" in Xinjiang, China, is totally illusory. Some international brands demanded that the use of Xinjiang cotton be prohibited in Chinese products, which seriously violated the international trade rules and market economy principles, damaged the global industrial chain and supply chain, and damaged the interests of global enterprises and consumers. In August 2020, the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce has issued a statement on the US "Xinjiang supply chain business advisory notice" to state its position. We firmly oppose any restrictions imposed by some international brands and institutions on the textile and clothing supply chain and related products in Xinjiang, China, and strongly urge them to stop their wrong practices immediately.

China is the world's trusted textile and garment production base, and more than 80% of the domestic cotton supply comes from Xinjiang. In 2020, China's textile and garment exports will reach 296.2 billion US dollars, accounting for about 35% of the total global market supply. During the global outbreak of new crown pneumonia, China's textile and garment enterprises quickly returned to work and production, providing the world with anti epidemic materials such as masks, clothing, home textiles and other livelihood products, effectively supporting the global anti epidemic and ensuring the safe, stable and normal operation of the global textile and clothing industry chain and supply chain. Xinjiang is the main cotton producing area in China, with an annual output of about 5 million tons, providing employment for nearly 600000 people, and has become the main source of income for Xinjiang farmers. The brutal crackdown on cotton in Xinjiang will not only directly harm the most vulnerable group in the industrial chain - millions of cotton farmers and textile workers in Xinjiang, but also ultimately harm all parties in the world textile and clothing supply chain and industrial chain, and seriously disrupt the production, supply and consumption of global textile and clothing products. This is the real violation of human rights.

China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce strongly urges relevant international brands and institutions to stop the restrictive measures immediately and correct the wrong behavior of excluding Xinjiang cotton and its products in its own supply chain. We support the normal business activities of multinational enterprises in China and the efforts to build an industrial chain and supply chain. We welcome foreign enterprises and institutions to visit Xinjiang on the spot to understand the real situation of Xinjiang's textile industry. We are willing to provide active support and assistance for foreign enterprises and institutions to carry out trade and investment cooperation in Xinjiang.

China Textile Import and Export Chamber of commerce is willing to work with the vast number of textile and garment foreign trade enterprises in China to actively support the international cooperation and development of Xinjiang textile and garment industry.

Defend Xinjiang cotton, support Chinese textile!
