Accelerated Era Of Robot Age Adidas Announced The Withdrawal Of Some Production Lines From China
As labor costs continue to rise, China's hegemony in the global manufacturing industry is facing severe challenges.

Adidas has announced that in order to further reduce production costs, it has decided to withdraw some of China's production lines back to Speedfactory, an intelligent concept factory in Germany, and use machines instead of artificial ones.
Adidas has moved the production line to Asia for nearly 20 years. The company said that most of the adidas products will be returned to new factories in Germany this year to meet the different needs of the market consumers more efficiently.
Adidas Speedfactory, located in Bavaria, southern Germany, was founded at the end of 2015. With the exception of a small number of technicians, the plant was produced by intelligent robots. In October last year, it launched the first pair of Adidas running shoes made by robots.
Adidas predicts that after Speedfactory is formally put into production, 1 million pairs of sneakers can be produced annually by robots in the future.
Intelligent production has become one of the important directions in its future strategy.

The only one factory directly under China closed and terminated the production agreement of 10 generations of factories, causing a large number of workers to lose their jobs.
Two years ago, Adidas officially announced that it would gradually reduce its capacity in China and move its productive forces to Vietnam, Kampuchea and Burma, which had lower labor costs. Meanwhile, it would increase investment in hi-tech R & D, hoping to achieve intelligent production as soon as possible.
Adidas did not disclose specific information about the withdrawal of the production line in its statement. Currently, the Yuyuan group, one of the largest footwear manufacturers in the world, is still working for Adidas, while the footwear products of the leisure series are produced by the foundries of Dongguan and Zhejiang.
Affected by the news, Yuyuan group's share price fell 1.1% to HK $31.65 as of today's close, with a market value of HK $52 billion 200 million.
Adidas's biggest competitor, NIKE, has also invested heavily in new factories, but there are no detailed plans yet.
Gerd Manz, head of the adidas technology innovation division, has said that the adidas plan will increase output and create a global network for rapid manufacturing.
It is reported that Adidas has a total annual output of about six hundred million, including shoes, clothing and accessories. It is expected that in 2020, revenue will be 1.5 times that of today.
Some analysts have pointed out that for Chinese sports brands such as Adidas and Nike, the products produced by Chinese factories will also be sent to all parts of the world except for local sales. Therefore, the cost of pportation is also the key reason for Adidas to decide to move the main production lines back to the European base camp.
It is noteworthy that adidas Group CEO Herbert Hainer revealed in an interview that after the realization of intelligent production, the next stage of Adidas will develop 3D printing technology, with the goal of mass production of special sports shoes through 3D printing, China.
