Retail Giant Closed Shop After Layoffs, WAL-MART Headquarters Low Key Layoffs

The pace of WAL-MART's business adjustment has not ceased in recent two years.

In November 26th, there were media reports that WAL-MART China once again opened the "layoffs" mode. The news of hundreds of people's layoffs at headquarters showed a huge wave in the industry.

The list shows that the WAL-MART layoffs include not only middle and low level employees, but also many senior and middle managers.

In the list of "director below" layoffs provided by the person, a total of 118 people were laid off from the list below the non director level, involving 16 jobs, including cooperation, taxation, shopping promotion, and so on, including six regions, including Northeast, North China, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, central China, Guangdong and Guangxi, and southwest.

After that, reporters tried to get in touch with the above staff members on the list of layoffs, but until the time of release, the telephone numbers of the lay off staff were in the state of no answer.

In November 27th, WAL-MART's responsible person confirmed in an interview with the China Times reporter that the company's headquarters office in Shenzhen is indeed laying off staff.

The person in charge told reporters that the layoffs were internal restructuring and continued streamlining.

As for the news that WAL-MART is about to lay off nearly 100 people, the official told reporters that no specific information has been received.

This is not the first time WAL-MART has laid off workers.

In December 2007, WAL-MART global procurement center laid off about 250 people, of whom 110 were laid off in China. In 2009, Shenzhen WAL-MART laid off its employees and the senior paid employees were first cut.

In 2012, WAL-MART optimized the procurement team and revoked 21 of the 29 procurement offices in the country, involving hundreds of people.
