In January 2014, Xinjiang's foreign trade realized a total import and export value of 15 billion yuan, an increase of 1.9% over the same period last year, so as to achieve a steady start in foreign trade. As a "barometer" for the import and export of commodities, the autonomous region established an import and export target of US $29 billion 760 million in 2014.


In February 28th, reporters learned from the Commerce Department of the autonomous region that foreign trade started a good start this year, with exports of 13 billion 720 million yuan, an increase of 2.8%, and imports of 1 billion 280 million yuan, down 6.7%. The trade surplus was 12 billion 440 million yuan, an expansion of 2.9%.


It is worth mentioning that in the export trade, January, Xinjiang clothing , shoes Class, Spin Products, furniture, lamps and lanterns, ceramic products, bags and other 7 categories of labor-intensive products exported 8 billion 210 million yuan, accounting for 59.8% of the total export value. The export of mechanical and electrical products was 3 billion 280 million yuan, an increase of 4.3%, accounting for 23.9% of the total export value. In particular, the export of agricultural products was 660 million yuan, an increase of 45.4%.


Xinjiang imports mainly from iron ore and cotton products. In January, Xinjiang enterprises imported 456 thousand tons of iron ore, an increase of 3.9%, worth 300 million yuan, down 0.4%; imported cotton 19 thousand tons, reduced 33.8%, the value of 240 million yuan, down 28.5%.


In terms of trade, market diversification is evident on the basis of traditional market stability. Xinjiang's export growth to emerging markets like Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Ukraine is faster than the overall export growth in January, and it has increased 1.4 times to Malaysia's import and export volume of 690 million yuan.


Reporters learned that in January 2014, the import and export of Xinjiang's major trading partners grew mostly, and the countries with trade in Xinjiang had diversified relations on the basis of traditional market stability. Now, in January, Xinjiang's export growth to emerging markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Ukraine was faster than the overall export growth in January, and maintained a growth trend in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other traditional markets. Among them, he continued to maintain the position of Xinjiang's largest trading partner, increased 6.6% yuan to Kazakhstan's total trade value of 5 billion 350 million yuan, and maintained a growth trend in traditional markets such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In 2014, the target of 8% growth was established, and the foreign trade volume of Xinjiang amounted to 29 billion 760 million US dollars.


In 2013, Xinjiang's foreign trade volume was $27 billion 560 million, an increase of 9.5% over the previous year, which is 1.9 percentage points higher than the national level. Last year, Xinjiang took a series of measures to adjust and optimize the trade structure, such as the establishment of the "special fund for demonstration bases of agricultural products export in autonomous regions", the newly identified demonstration bases for agricultural products in 6 autonomous regions, and the establishment of overseas trading platforms. 6 overseas exhibitions were held, allowing more than 370 enterprises to "go out" to 3 billion 370 million US dollars in turnover, and rapidly increase the volume of trade with Iran, India and Ukraine.
