IT New Trend Of Enterprise Work: Standing At Work

The vertical office desk is far away from the ground. Employees can either work standing or sit on a stool. The head of Facebook at Artaud, Palo, said that after news coverage of the health risks that could be caused by sitting around the office all day, many employees came to inquire about the vertical desk.

Facebook staff Greg Hoy has quoted many medical research reports to link sedentary and increasing obesity and other health problems, including a variety of factors, including physical activity reduction, which are responsible for these problems. According to a 2010 American Cancer Society study, women who sat for more than 6 hours a day were 37% more likely to die prematurely than women who sat less than 3 hours a day, while men were 18% higher. In January, a study published by the American College of Cardiology found that people who sat at home for longer periods had higher mortality rates than those with shorter time.

No one seems to have compiled statistics on the trend of vertical desk, but fragmentary reports show that Silicon Valley is embracing this trend.

The head of Facebook said that the request to replace the vertical desk has risen sharply. The number of applications weekly is five to eight. In this company with more than 2000 employees, 200 to 250 vertical desks have been deployed. Facebook is also experimenting with a treadmill workbench where employees can walk or run on a treadmill while hitting computer keyboards.

Greg Hoy, 39, recruited Facebook as a design team seven months ago and soon asked for a vertical desk. Hoy said, "I don't have any mental slump at 3 p.m., and I feel energetic all day.

Everett is the pioneer of standing business. Seven years ago, he used a vertical desk to help restore his back injury. He said he could not return to sitting office.
