In October 25th,

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

Released

China's National Competitiveness Report

Show, 1990-2008 years

China

The comprehensive competitiveness of the country has increased by leaps and bounds, rising from seventy-third in the world to

Seventeenth place

The top 10 are the United States, the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Germany, the United Kingdom, Holland, Switzerland and France.

According to the report, the two stages of 1996-1998 years and 2005-2008 years are the stage of rapid development of China's national competitiveness. The competitiveness of the country has been rising with the development of China.

From the perspective of scale competitiveness, China's total economic volume ranks the highest in the world, lagging behind the US, the European Union and Japan, and the growth rate is slowing down.

From the point of view of efficiency and competitiveness, although the progress is huge, it is still in the middle and low level, and it is the fifty-sixth place in 2008.

China has long been a leader in growth competitiveness and has always been the top five in the world, with a strong growth trend.

In terms of structural competitiveness, it remained at a low level for a long period of time. In 2008, it was in the eighty-ninth place, and it was weak.

Innovation competitiveness first stabilized and then increased, and has strong potential for upgrading. Currently, it is in the twenty-second place.

According to the report, China's national competitiveness ranks ninth in G20, and is at the middle level. It has great potential for upgrading and is gradually integrating into the ranks of world powers.

After analyzing and comparing the competitiveness of China and the United States, the conclusion of the report shows that the national competitiveness of the United States remains the absolute leading position in the world, and the gap between China and the United States is relatively large.

Although the overall competitive advantage of the United States is greater, especially in terms of economic structure and global links, China has begun to surpass the US in terms of economic growth rate, demand potential, and domestic and foreign economic relations.

The report also believes that China's national competitiveness is slightly stronger than that of India, while India is leading in some areas.

At present, there is a certain gap between China and Japan, and Japan's national competitiveness has a significant advantage in Asia.

Ni Pengfei, editor in chief of the center for urban competitiveness of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and chief editor of China's national competitiveness report, also pointed out that China's high-end talent index is only 1/12 in the US. The education and health index is 1/2 in the US, and the science and technology index is only 1/5 in the US.

In terms of core competitiveness of science and technology, talent, education and other countries, the gap between China and developed countries is obvious, and there are still disadvantages.

Therefore, China should adopt the strategy of "catching up with the stratagem", and carry out high-end leading, key stride, scale competition, multi-layer cooperation, national marketing, internal and external interaction and institutional innovation, and strive to become an integrated, powerful, key, first-class and advanced country in the whole in 2020.
