Since the first half of this year, the topic of garbage classification has been frequent. Following the most stringent garbage classification in Shanghai in July 1st, the 46 cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, will also basically build a garbage disposal system before the end of 2020. From the guide to classification and disposal of domestic waste in Shanghai, we can see that daily garbage can be divided into four main categories: dry refuse, wet refuse, hazardous waste and recyclable materials. According to the specific circumstances, different textiles can not be classified as dry refuse (such as old underwear), recyclables (such as pillows, bags) and large waste (such as mattresses, sofas) that need special treatment.

Data show that in 2018, the volume of waste textiles in China reached 26 million tons / year, which undoubtedly provided great development potential for the recycling and reprocessing industry of waste textiles.

Generally speaking, if the waste textiles are made of natural fibers such as cotton, wool and hemp, after recycling, they can be made into composite materials, thermal insulation materials and filling materials. After reprocessing, chemical fiber clothing can be used as regenerated fiber and made into industrial textiles, such as made of greenhouse, automobile noise insulation cotton and so on. Some of the more new summer clothing will be exported to Africa or Southeast Asian countries, and will start to play a role in other hemispheres.

According to relevant experts, the latest methods of recycling include: degassing and repolymerizing technology for polyester garments, aiming at the alcoholysis, separation and repolymerization technology of polyester and cotton garments, aiming at solvent recovery and separation technology of multi component blended garments.

Although the recycling of waste textiles has not yet formed a complete upstream and downstream industry chain in China, many enterprises have begun to devote more attention and energy to this direction. As a new industry, the waste textiles industry will have a long way to go and a long way to go.
