Cotton Ban In India

International Cotton Advisory Committee (

ICAC) worried that India's reversal of the ban on cotton exports could lead to more textile mills and importing countries using polyester fibers.

Judging from the situation of cotton producing countries, trading countries and consuming countries, India's recent ban on cotton export prohibition has created uncertainty for the market.

In the long run, India's dual approach may encourage more textile mills around the world, especially importing countries, to turn to polyester because the supply of polyester is relatively stable.

Terry Townsend, executive director of ICAC, points out that the world cotton trade is estimated at about 8 million tonnes, the recent Terry.

India announces cotton

The export ban will announce the lifting of the ban a week later, which will not change the total volume of world trade.

On the contrary, the practice of India has created uncertainty.

The long-term impact will encourage more textile factories around the world, especially textile factories in the importing countries, to turn to polyester because the supply of polyester is relatively stable.

Now, with the lifting of the export ban in India, Thomson said the world's cotton market will return to fundamentals.

World production is estimated at 27 million tons and consumption is only 23 million tons.

As a result, inventories have increased, and the average price this year is lower than last year.

In 2012-13 years, cotton production is estimated at 25 million 800 thousand tons, trade volume is 8 million 300 thousand tons, consumption is 24 million 300 thousand tons, ending inventory is 14 million 600 thousand tons.

ICAC expects India to produce 5 million 900 thousand tons of cotton in 2011-12 years, 4 million 400 thousand tons of consumption and 150 to 1 million 700 thousand tons of exports.

In 2012-13, India is expected to produce 5 million 700 thousand tons of cotton, cotton consumption is estimated at 4 million 700 thousand tons, and exports 1 million tons.
